Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act Passed
On November 4, 20 million farm animals breathed a heavy sigh of relief as Proposition 2, The California Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act, passed by a landslide (63.5% Yes to 36.5% No). The victory was hard won and, as California is the fifth state to adopt such humane farming standards, was important in validating the public’s growing refusal to stand for the systematic and extraordinary mistreatment of farm animals.
PAHS’ presence at community events this year has helped us share our humane work, with a special emphasis on our support of Proposition 2: The California Farm Animal Cruelty Act, which will alleviate the suffering of 20 million farm animals by allowing them enough room in their pens and cages to turn around and extend their limbs. PAHS has made a major contribution to the Proposition 2 campaign with its advertisements in San Francisco magazine and Sierra magazine.
